Meta announced an exclusive partnership with PayPal Giving Fund UK (PPGF) for processing donations to UK charities. Charities were required to accept new terms by 1 November to continue collecting donations through Facebook and Instagram.

As of 16 September, charities that switched to PPGF receive donations from all donors (new and returning). Charities that did not switch only receive donations from donors who previously used a Facebook e-money account.

Further reading on the changes by Meta can be found here: Meta's partnership with PayPal Giving Fund.

What This Means for Donorfy Users

If You Have Switched to PPGF

Your Facebook Transaction Reports will now include PayPal-specific fields and formats.
Because of this:

  • The previous Facebook Giving Tools upload format is no longer compatible.

  • Uploading new PPGF-based Facebook files into Donorfy will result in errors.

This change affects only the file format. Your ability to receive donations through Meta remains unaffected.

If You Have Not Yet Switched to PPGF

  • Your Transaction Reports remain in the original Facebook format.

  • You can continue uploading these reports into Donorfy without issue.

📌Note:
We do not recommend delaying the switch to PPGF solely for the purpose of maintaining file upload compatibility. Ensuring your charity can continue fundraising at full capacity is more important.

What Donorfy Is Doing About the Changes

Donorfy has updated the Facebook Giving Tools uploader to support Meta’s new file format.

This update ensures that:

  • Both the old Facebook file format and the new PPGF format are fully supported.

  • Uploads will continue working regardless of which format Meta provides.

October 2023 Update

Enhancements have been added to improve data consistency:

  • Meta’s new file format is now fully compatible with Donorfy.

  • Where Meta now provides Campaign Owner details after a campaign was originally created on Facebook or Instagram, Donorfy will automatically add these details as the Fundraiser on the corresponding Fundraising Page.

  • If earlier uploads did not include this information, but later files do, Donorfy will populate the missing Fundraiser details.
