Overview

JustGiving donations can be mapped into Donorfy using several layers of configuration. These layers give flexibility but require a clear strategy to avoid confusion.

Donorfy supports the following mapping methods:

  1. Default JustGiving Settings
    (Integrations, click JustGiving, select Settings)

  2. Campaign-specific mappings
(via the JustGiving tab within each Donorfy Campaign)

  3. Fundraising Page custom codes
(coded into the JustGiving Fundraising Page for granular control)

  4. Automatic Campaign matching
(Donations map to a Donorfy Campaign when its name exactly matches the JustGiving appeal name)

Creating a Strategy for Mapping

A consistent approach ensures donations are attributed correctly and avoids inconsistent coding.

Recommended planning steps:

  1. Define your default settings
These form the base rules used when no other overrides are applied.

  2. Choose one of the following supplement options:

    • Use only Campaign-specific settings and avoid custom codes.

    • Use custom codes on Fundraising Pages and avoid Campaign-specific settings.

    • Rely primarily on Campaign name matching between Donorfy and JustGiving.

📌Note: Whatever strategy you choose, apply it consistently for all JustGiving Campaigns and Fundraising Pages.

Default JustGiving Settings

Configure your baseline mapping rules in:
Integrations, click JustGiving, select Settings.

These settings apply to:

  • Direct donations (not via a fundraising page).

  • Fundraising Page donations unless overridden by Campaign-specific settings or custom codes.

Purpose for Opt-ins

Choose the Purpose that should apply when a donor chooses to share their email address and receive updates.

Additional consent handling:

  1. If Allow the Email channel when a positive consent is received is set to Yes:

    • Email Channel is set to Green.

    • Preferred Channel becomes Email.

  2. If set to No:

    • The Purpose turns Green.

    • Preferred Channel is set to Do Not Contact for new constituents.

Anonymous Donor Constituent

Set the constituent profile that will receive donations where JustGiving does not provide donor information.

Best practice: create an “Anonymous JustGiving Donor” profile exclusively for this purpose.

Transaction Settings

Defaults for how incoming donations are recorded in Donorfy.

These settings include:

Transactions: Payments

  • Campaign.

  • Payment Method: One-off Donations.

  • Payment Method: Recurring Donations.

  • Bank Account.

  • Acknowledgment.

Transactions – Allocation

  • One-off or Recurring Donations.

  • Sponsorship (from Fundraiser).
