Overview

JustGiving allows charities to assign custom codes to Fundraising Pages.
When used, these codes override:

  • Donorfy’s default JustGiving Settings.

  • Any Campaign-level mappings in Donorfy.

Donorfy follows an established convention for how each custom code is interpreted.

How Donorfy Uses JustGiving Custom Codes

Custom Code 2: Department

If present, Donorfy attempts to match the value of Custom Code 2 to a Department name in Donorfy.

Custom Code 3: Campaign

If present, Donorfy attempts to match Custom Code 3 to a Campaign name.
If successfully matched, all donations through that Fundraising Page are mapped to that Campaign.

Custom Code 4: Fund

If present, Donorfy attempts to match Custom Code 4 to a Fund name in Donorfy.

Custom Code 6: Tribute Fund

If present, Donorfy attempts to match Custom Code 6 to a Constituent Number (not a name).
This is treated as a Tribute Fund link, meaning:

  • Donations through that Fundraising Page are connected to the tribute fund constituent.

What Defaults Still Apply?

All other transaction attributes, including Product and Payment Method, continue to use the defaults in Integrations, JustGiving, Settings.

The linked Knowledge Base article guides you through adding your Custom Codes to your JustGiving Fundraising Pages: Adding Custom Codes to your JustGiving Fundraising Pages

⚠️Important:

  • Custom Codes in excess of 20 characters* in JustGiving will be truncated via the JustGiving API. In instances where this occurs, the code will not match a Department, Campaign, or Fund in Donorfy and will result in default settings being used.

  • If your Department, Campaign, or Fund in Donorfy is greater than 20 characters then it is suggested a new Department, Campaign, or Fund is created which is less than or equal to 20 characters in length.

* The number of characters includes spaces.
