How Behavioural Activity Is Collected

Donorfy collects behavioural activity data nightly from all connected Dotdigital accounts.
This includes activity from all email campaigns in those accounts.

📌 Note: Data is collected only from the Integration Start Date you set for each Dotdigital account.

How Constituents Are Matched

Dotdigital identifies contacts only by email address.
Therefore:

  • Activities are added to any Donorfy constituent whose email matches the Dotdigital contact email.

  • If two constituents share the same email address, activities are added to both records.

  • Dotdigital does not provide person-level identifiers, so Donorfy cannot distinguish which individual interacted.

Behavioural Activities Added to Constituent Timelines

The following Dotdigital events are added as Activities on the constituent timeline:

  1. Email Sent.

  2. Email Opened.

  3. Email Clicked.

  4. Email Bounced (hard bounce).

  5. Unsubscribe Request.

  6. Suppression (including reason for suppression).

These activities help you track supporter engagement and maintain accurate communication preferences.

Handling Unsubscribes and Suppressions

When a constituent unsubscribes or becomes suppressed in Dotdigital:

  • All mapped Donorfy Purposes are automatically set to Blocked (Red).

  • Donorfy updates the constituent’s communication preference history.

  • Activities such as Dotdigital unsubscribe request or Dotdigital contact suppressed are added to the timeline.

The Email Channel is not changed automatically. Only mapped Purposes are updated to reflect unsubscribe status.

⚠️Important: To access the Dotdigital integration you'll need to raise a support ticket.
