Donorfy’s Dotdigital integration includes the following features:
Add new contacts from Donorfy to a Dotdigital address book.
Update existing Dotdigital contacts using constituent data from a Donorfy List, mapped to Dotdigital data fields or preferences.
Run updates manually or on a schedule, depending on your communication workflow.
Sync constituent activity from Dotdigital to Donorfy, such as:
Email sends.
Opens.
Clicks.
These appear as Activities on the constituent’s Timeline.
Use Donorfy Triggers to:
Enrol a constituent in a Dotdigital Program (customer journey), or
Send a one-off transactional email via Dotdigital.
Connect one or multiple Dotdigital accounts to the same Donorfy system, with all features available for each linked account.
Important Notes About the Integration
New Dotdigital Contacts
New additions made directly in Dotdigital are not automatically created in Donorfy.
Updated Email Addresses
If a constituent’s email address is changed in Donorfy:
A new contact will be created in Dotdigital.
The old email address will remain as a separate Dotdigital contact.
📌 Note: This behaviour prevents accidental overwriting of historical email performance data.
Preference Changes in Dotdigital
Changes made to preferences within Dotdigital do not sync back to Donorfy.

Manage Preferences from Dotdigital
Dotdigital preference changes cannot automatically update Donorfy. To ensure accurate preference syncing, this is achieved using the preference Update Widget:
Replace any Dotdigital preference-update links in your emails or landing pages.
Instead, use a Donorfy Preference Update Form.
Supporters update their preferences in Donorfy first.
Donorfy then syncs the updated preferences back into Dotdigital via the integration.
This ensures both systems remain aligned and prevents conflicting preference records.
Access the Dotdigital Integration
Open the left-hand menu in Donorfy.
Navigate to Integrations, then click Dotdigital.
Configure your account links and synchronisation options from this screen.
