β οΈ Important:
Most issues relate to list filters, data formatting, required fields in Mailchimp, or broken mappings. Always review settings before re-running a sync.
Restart a Stalled or Frozen Sync
A sync may appear frozen if there is a temporary disconnect from the Mailchimp API.
Open the Mailchimp Updates screen.
Click Reset Sync to immediately uncouple the process and free the sync queue.
You can then start a new sync in the usual way.
You do not need to wait for the reset to complete before starting a new sync.
Fix Repeated Syncs with No Recent Changes
If the same constituents sync repeatedly without changes, this is usually caused by data inconsistencies.
Open the constituent profile.
Check first name, last name, and email address for trailing spaces, spaces within the email, or invalid characters such as a double @.
Save the profile after correcting the data to resolve the issue.
Resolve Syncs That Complete with No Updates
A sync may run but apply no updates if Mailchimp requires data Donorfy cannot provide.
πNote:
If a Mailchimp merge field is set as mandatory, the sync fails because Donorfy only supplies first name, last name, email address, mapped purposes, and tags.
You may see errors such as:
Invalid Resource.
Status: 400.
Your merge fields were invalid.
Open your Audience settings in Mailchimp.
Set the required merge fields to optional.
Run the sync again.
Fix Mapping Errors for Tags or Groups
Mapping errors occur when a tag or purpose is renamed or deleted.
You may see an error similar to:
Unable to find the resource at a Mailchimp segments URL
Go to Settings, then click Configuration, then click Mailchimp Settings.
Open the linked audience to review mappings.
Delete or re-map any entries marked as undefined.
Resolve API Key Test Failures
If testing your settings fails with an unexpected character error, the API key may be invalid.
Check the last three characters of the API key against Mailchimp.
Update the API key if Mailchimp has moved your account to a new server.
Test the settings again.
If the error persists, verify the full API key.
Investigate Constituents Not Syncing Despite Email Permissions
If the email channel is enabled but the record does not sync:
Review the list filters for preferences, tags, or preferred contact method.
Check whether the constituent is archived.
Confirm whether the list is set to include archived constituents.
π Note:
Archived constituents do not sync if the list excludes archived profiles, even when the email channel is enabled.
Understand Imports Made Directly in Mailchimp
Contacts imported directly into Mailchimp do not sync automatically to Donorfy.
Manually imported Mailchimp data must be exported from Mailchimp and uploaded into Donorfy using the File Uploader.
If data is uploaded into Donorfy first, it syncs to Mailchimp as expected.
Fix Missing Automations in Web Widgets
Supporter Journey automations may not appear due to a Mailchimp API limitation.
Review archived automations in Mailchimp.
Permanently delete any archived automations.
This often allows active automations to appear in the API.
Restore Missing Mailchimp Summary Icons
If a Mailchimp summary icon does not appear next to an email address:
Check for trailing spaces in the email address.
Remove any erroneous spaces and save the profile.
π Note:
Email addresses containing a plus character are not currently supported and cannot display the summary icon.
Make Missing Campaigns Appear in Analytics
Campaigns may not appear if the campaign title is empty in the API.
Open the campaign in Mailchimp.
Click the drop-down next to View Report, then click Rename.
Edit the subject line slightly and save.
The campaign should appear in analytics within a few minutes.
