You can integrate Donorfy with Mailchimp to keep your Mailchimp audiences up to date with constituent data and to see Mailchimp campaign activity on constituent timelines in Donorfy.
⚠️Important:
The integration uses the Mailchimp API.
Check Mailchimp’s website to confirm the API is available on your plan. Some price plans may not include API access, and this is outside Donorfy’s control.
Add Your Mailchimp API Key in Donorfy
In Mailchimp, generate or locate your API key.
In Donorfy, go to your Mailchimp settings.
Copy the Mailchimp API key from Mailchimp.
Paste the key into the Mailchimp API key field in Donorfy.
Save your changes.
This connects Donorfy to your Mailchimp account so they can communicate via the API.
Map Donorfy Tags and Purposes to Mailchimp Tags and Groups
To keep Mailchimp up to date with Donorfy data:
In Donorfy’s Mailchimp settings, open the Linked Mailchimp Audiences panel.
For each Mailchimp audience you want to sync with:
Map your Donorfy Tags to Mailchimp Tags.
Map your Donorfy Purposes to Mailchimp Groups, if required.
Save your mappings.
These mappings control how Donorfy updates Mailchimp tags and groups when you sync constituents from Donorfy.
Set Up the Mailchimp Webhook
The webhook keeps Donorfy updated when things change in Mailchimp (for example, new subscriptions or changes made via Mailchimp forms).
In Mailchimp, open the settings for the relevant audience.
Add a webhook that points to the Donorfy endpoint shown in your Mailchimp settings in Donorfy.
Choose which events in Mailchimp should trigger the webhook (for example, subscribes, unsubscribes, profile updates).
Save the webhook.
This allows Mailchimp to notify Donorfy about changes, so Donorfy can update the corresponding constituents.
Link Donorfy Campaigns to Mailchimp Campaigns
To see Mailchimp campaign statistics and activity on Donorfy timelines:
In Donorfy, open the Campaign you want to link.
Connect it to the corresponding Mailchimp campaign.
Save the link.
Once linked, Donorfy can show Mailchimp campaign stats and add relevant items to constituent timelines.
Sync Constituents from Donorfy to Mailchimp
When you want to update Mailchimp with information from Donorfy:
Build or open a List in Donorfy containing the constituents you want to sync.
Check that the List includes the right filters (for example, communication permissions, tags, or purposes).
Use the Donorfy Mailchimp sync option to send the List to Mailchimp.
Donorfy will:
Add any new constituents in the List to the Mailchimp audience.
Update existing Mailchimp contacts with the latest Donorfy details and mapped tags/purposes.
Apply email channel rules (for example, unsubscribing where the email channel is set to No).
