You can link a Donorfy Campaign to a Mailchimp Campaign so that email performance data is available directly in Donorfy.
Once linked, Donorfy can show key Mailchimp analytics alongside your Donorfy campaign metrics and record email engagement (opens, clicks, unsubscribes) on constituent timelines.
How the Link Works
When you link a Donorfy Campaign to a Mailchimp Campaign:
Analytics
Key Mailchimp statistics (such as sends, opens, clicks, unsubscribes) are displayed in the campaign’s Analytics tab in Donorfy.
Constituent timelines
Mailchimp open, click, and unsubscribe events are added as activity entries on the relevant constituent timelines in Donorfy (where the constituent can be matched by email address).
One-to-one relationship
Each Donorfy Campaign can be linked to one Mailchimp Campaign.
Each Mailchimp Campaign can be linked to one Donorfy Campaign.
This is a one-to-one relationship, not one-to-many.
If you have a Mailchimp campaign that involves multiple separate email sends (for example, different segments), each individual email send in Mailchimp is treated as its own “campaign” and must be linked to a separate Donorfy Campaign.
Example naming convention
For a single fundraising appeal with several Mailchimp sends, you might create separate Donorfy campaigns such as:
Summer Appeal 2020.
Summer Appeal 2020 – Newsletter.
Summer Appeal 2020 – Warm segment.
Summer Appeal 2020 – Corporates.
Each of these Donorfy campaigns can then be linked to the corresponding Mailchimp email send.
Link a Donorfy Campaign to a Mailchimp Campaign
Follow these steps to establish the link:
In Donorfy, go to Campaigns.
Click to open the Donorfy Campaign you want to link.
Click the Analytics tab.
Scroll down to the Mailchimp panel.
In the Mailchimp panel, select the Mailchimp Campaign that corresponds to your Donorfy Campaign from the drop-down list.
Save your changes.
Once selected:
Donorfy will display key Mailchimp analytics in the Analytics tab for that campaign.
Mailchimp engagement events (opens, clicks, unsubscribes) related to that campaign will be available to add as activities on constituent timelines (subject to email address matching).
What You’ll See After Linking
After the link is set up and Mailchimp data has synced:
In Campaigns, [Your Campaign], Analytics:
A Mailchimp section showing key engagement metrics for the linked campaign.
On Constituent timelines:
Activities for Mailchimp events such as:
Email opened
Link clicked
Unsubscribed
This gives you a joined-up view of both financial outcomes and email engagement for each campaign, directly in Donorfy.
