Check Whether the Gmail Account Password Has Changed

  1. Confirm that no one has recently updated the Gmail account password.

  2. If the password has changed, go to Settings, then click Configuration.

  3. Select Email Server Settings.

  4. Re-enter the Gmail password, then click Save Changes.

  5. Click Authorise Gmail.

πŸ“Œ Note: Donorfy must be re-authorised whenever Gmail credentials change.

Renew an Expired Gmail Token

Google periodically expires access tokens, requiring a fresh login.

  1. In Email Server Settings, clear the existing Gmail configuration fields.

  2. Re-enter your Gmail email address.

  3. Click Save Changes.

  4. Click Authorise Gmail to complete the login and renew the token.

Once authorisation is complete, your connection will be active again.

Resolve Frequent Token Expiration

If Gmail tokens expire repeatedly, your account may be using dual authentication / multifactor security, which can interfere with the renewable token used by Donorfy.

Use Manual Configuration Instead

  1. Navigate to Settings, click Configuration, select Email Server Settings.

  2. Choose Manual Configuration.

  3. Enter the following details:

    • Host: smtp.gmail.com.

    • Port: 587.

    • SSL: On.

    • Email Address: Gmail address used with Donorfy.

    • Password: Gmail password (or app password if required).

  4. Click Save Changes.

  5. Click Send Test Email to confirm that the configuration works.

If the test fails:

  • Re-check the email address and password.

  • Save changes again, then retry sending a test email.

πŸ“Œ Note: Some Gmail accounts require App Passwords when two-factor authentication is enabled.
