Tableau allows you to create powerful visualisations based on your Donorfy data. You can use the free public version, or download a trial of the full version before purchasing. Tableau connects to Donorfy using the OData protocol.
⚠️Important:
The data API Odata link is a Professional-only feature. Essential subscribers, please contact us to find out more about upgrading.
Tableau retrieves data via Donorfy Data Service, to use the feature you will need to find your System API Key.
You must have permission to use the Donorfy Data Service in your user profile.
Connect Tableau to the Donorfy Data Service
Locate your Donorfy API key in your settings.
Start with your base OData link:
https://data.donorfy.com/odata/<your API key>
Example:
If your API key is abcdefgh, your base link is:
https://data.donorfy.com/odata/abcdefgh.Add the name of the table you want to connect to at the end of the link.
Example for Constituents:
https://data.donorfy.com/odata/abcdefgh/ConstituentsConfirm that the table name is case-sensitive. For example, Constituents must start with a capital C.
Set Up the OData Connection in Tableau
Open Tableau and select OData from the left-hand menu.
Enter your full OData link (including the table name) in the Server field.
Enter your Donorfy username and password.
Click OK to connect.
Tableau will load the selected table, allowing you to begin creating dashboards and visualisations.
📌 Note:
You must create a new connection for each table you want to use, as Tableau requires the table name to be included in the link.
