β οΈ Important:
Default GDPR marketing permission fields in the email platform do not map to preference centre purposes.
Additional configuration is required to align the two.
Understand GDPR Marketing Permissions
The email platform provides GDPR marketing permissions at the audience level.
Enable GDPR marketing permissions at the Audience level.
Add these permissions to selected subscriber signup forms.
These permissions allow subscribers to opt in or out of specific marketing activities and can be used to build campaign segments.
Configure Groups to Map to Preference Centre Purposes
To sync marketing permissions with preference centre purposes, you must use groups instead of the default GDPR permission fields.
Create a Group with marketing preferences displayed as checkboxes.
Map these group fields in the email integration settings.
This approach ensures marketing permissions align with preference centre purposes.
Disable Default GDPR Fields
Once groups are configured, disable the default GDPR permission fields.
Open Audience Settings.
Go to Audience Name and Defaults.
Uncheck Enable GDPR Fields.
Leaving GDPR fields enabled can cause confusion, as these fields do not sync to the preference centre.
Use Groups for Campaign Segmentation
Groups function in the same way as GDPR permissions when building campaigns.
Create a campaign segment using group values.
Select the relevant marketing preference checkboxes.
This ensures campaigns respect subscriber consent while remaining fully synced.
Create and Manage Signup Forms
You can manage subscriber forms directly from the audience settings.
Open the Audience.
Click Signup Forms.
Add group-based marketing preferences to the form as required.
Using groups on signup forms ensures subscriber choices sync correctly with preference centre purposes.
