Preference Update Settings

Learn how to set up and customise Donorfy’s self-service communication preference update features for your supporters.

⚠️Important: To enable the self-service features relating to contact preference selections, you must first have the professional plan.

Before enabling these features:

  1. Add the web widget to your website.

  2. Ensure the Purposes you want supporters to select are active so they appear on the public form.


Configure Preference Update Settings

  1. Go to Settings and open your Preference Update Settings.

  2. Enter or customise the text shown on the widget and the public form.

  3. Click Save changes.

Preference Link Request Wording

Displayed above the email field where supporters request a link.
Example:
Enter your email address and press Send. We’ll email you a link to update your preferences.

Preference Link Sent Wording

Shown after the link is successfully emailed.
Example:
We’ve sent you an email! Open it and click the link to update your preferences. If you have any questions, call us on 01234 567890.

Preference Link Not Sent Wording

Shown if there is an issue sending the email.
Example:
Oops! We couldn’t send your link. Please call us on 01234 567890 or contact us through our website.


Set Up Email Details for the Preference Update Form

  • Email From Name
    The sender name that appears in the preference update email.
    Example: Supporter Care.

  • Email From Address
    The email address used to send the preference update email.
    Example: [email protected].

  • Preferences Email Wording
    Text included in the email that contains the update link.
    Example: “Hi! This is the email you requested. If you didn’t request it, please ignore it. If you have any questions, please call us on 01234 567890.”

  • Customer Logo URL
    Optional URL for your organisation’s logo, displayed in the email and on the form.

  • Preferences Link Confirmation Button URL
    The page supporters are directed to after the preferences email has been sent.


Configure Wording for the Preference Update Form

  • Preference Form Heading Wording
    Heading text displayed at the top of the form.
    Example: “Please update your preferences below.”

  • Preference Form Instructions Wording
    Instructions shown above the list of preferences.
    Example: “Please select from the options below.”

  • Preferences Updated Thank You Wording
    Message shown when the update is successfully applied.
    Example: “Thank you for letting us know your preferences — we will update our records.”

  • Preferences Updated Invalid Wording
    Message shown if there is an error applying the update.
    Example: “We’re unable to update your preferences — please call us on 01234 567890 instead.”

  • Preference Form Privacy Policy URL
    Optional link to your privacy policy displayed on the form.


Additional Configuration Options

  • Preference Update Campaign
    An optional campaign to associate with the update.
    This dropdown lists all active campaigns in Donorfy.

  • Preferences Update Reason
    An optional reason linked to the update.
    This dropdown lists all active reasons in Donorfy.

  • Preference Update Consent Statement
    The consent statement recorded when a supporter submits the form.
    This dropdown lists active consent statements uploaded into Donorfy.

📌 Note: Upload your consent statements first so they are available for selection.
