A Placeholder automatically populates with data when you use them in your letter/email. These make creating a letter within a batch or sending ad-hoc really quick and efficient.

You can include the placeholders listed below, into which Donorfy merge details.

Constituent Placeholders

  • {LabelName}.

  • {Salutation}.

  • {FirstName}.

  • {LastName}.

  • {OrganisationName}.

  • {Jobtitle}.

  • {Department}.

  • {AddressLine1}.

  • {AddressLine2}.

  • {Town}.

  • {County}.

  • {Country}.

  • {PostalCode}.

  • {Phone}.

  • {EmailAddress}.

  • {SalutationAlternate} - Any alternate salutation or label name, if a constituent has one, is used, if an alternate isn't present, then the main salutation/label name is used instead.

  • {LabelNameAlternate}.

Transaction placeholders

Send documents from within a batch

If your document is used from the batch Acknowledgements under the Financial menu, you can use these placeholders.

{Amount}

Amount given.

{AcknowledgementText}

Any personalised acknowledgement text entered for the transaction.

{Number}

e.g. if you need a receipt number.

{Product}

The product(s) associated with the transaction.

{Fund}

the fund(s) associated with the transaction.

Send documents from a constituent timeline

If your document is used from the Send Document option on the timeline, you can use these placeholders. Donorfy merges the details from the latest transaction.

{LatestTransactionAmount}

Last Amount given.

{LatestTransactionDate}

Last Date Paid.

{LatestTransactionNumber}

Last transaction number - e.g. if you need a receipt number.

{LatestTransactionAcknowledgementText}

Any personalised acknowledgement text entered for the last transaction.

{Product}

The product(s) associated with the transaction.

{Fund}

The fund(s) associated with the transaction.

Recurring Payment Instruction (RPI) Placeholders

Your document is used for either:

  • The batch Acknowledgement is sent under the Financial menu to send acknowledgements for new recurring payment instructions.

  • From the Send Document option of the RPI Manage menu - as shown below - rather than the main send document menu option

You can use these placeholders:

{Amount}

Total amount of RPI.

{AcknowledgementText}

Any personalised acknowledgement text entered.

{PaymentFrequency}

Payment frequency (Month, Half Year, Year, Quarter)

{Products}

List of products.

{Beneficiaries}

List of any beneficiaries of the RPI.

{BeneficiaryMessage}

Any comments or messages entered for the beneficiaries.

{CollectionMethod}

How the RPI will be collected, e.g. GoCardless.

{CollectionDay}

Number of the day in the month when the payment will usually be collected

{FirstPaymentDate}

The date the first payment is made - for a GoCardless RPI, this will be the text 'Next Collection'.

If you want to add a date, then it is suggested to switch to: {CollectionDay} and add 'of the month' or 'each month' afterwards.

{StartDate}

Date the RPI will start - this will be empty if the RPI will start at the next collection.

{EndDate}

Date the RPI will end - this will be empty if the RPI is open-ended.

{CollectionReference1}

{CollectionReference2}

{CollectionReference3}

{CollectionReference4}

{CollectionReference5}

The collection references associated with the RPI - these are usually the bank account details.

Other placeholders

  • Current Date - You can also use {Today} to merge in the current date.

  • These placeholders calculate the total amount given in this and the last tax years:

    • {TotalAmountThisTaxYear}

    • {TotalAmountLastTaxYear}
