Google Analytics can track Donorfy Forms to help you see their performance on your website by adding your Google Analytics tracking ID to the Forms section in Donorfy.
How does it work and what is collected?
When Google Analytics is enabled, code is injected to your Form’s default settings as the standard gtag.js. When the Form is loaded by a person visiting, GA4 then collects the event for the rendered page.
The gtag.js is the transport layer, GA4 receives are based on Google’s own library.
The Enhanced Measurement Event page_view is fired automatically when the Form loads.
Additional events such as the Enhanced Measurement events can be toggled on/off in the GA4 settings in your Google Analytics account.
Useful session/engagement events that the standard gtag.js reliably fire are:
· Session_start.
· First_visit.
· user_engagment.
There are no Enhanced Measurement event (e.g form_submit) or Custom Events fired from a successful Donorfy Form submission to record the successful submission or to record the conversion (e.g financial). This is due to the way that the Donorfy Form behaves once the Form is submitted.
So, if a charity wants a "donation completed" / conversion event recorded in GA4, that would need to be configured on the GA4 side (e.g. as a page-based conversion on a thank-you URL). Donorfy itself does not push one.
