Gift Aid opt-in campaigns help recover significant missed income by prompting eligible donors to complete their declaration. This solution uses an autotag, two Lists, and a Donorfy Form.

⚠️Important:
This uses features that are only available in the Professional plan. Essentials users can upgrade to Professional at any time - please contact us for more information.

Prepare Your Gift Aid Tools

Complete these preparation steps once. You can reuse them for future Gift Aid campaigns.

Create the Autotag

  1. Go to Settings, then click Configuration to create a new tag named Gift Aider in a suitable category.

  2. Create a new Gift Aid Declaration List named Gift Aiders. Leave filters empty so it returns all declarations.

  3. Open the Gift Aider tag and click the Autotag tab.

  4. Select the Gift Aiders List as the source for the autotag.

  5. Click Apply This Auto Tag Now to test and populate the tag across your database.

πŸ“Œ Note: The Gift Aider autotag refreshes nightly and can also be used for conditional text in acknowledgements.

Create the Gift Aid Opt-In Form

  1. Go to Forms, then click Manage Forms.

  2. Add a new form using the Gift Aid Opt-In template.

  3. Configure the form as required, then publish it for use in your campaign.

Contact Donors Who Have Not Gift Aided

Create a List to identify donors who have not completed a declaration.

Build the Non–Gift Aider List

  1. Create a new Constituent List called Gift Aid Campaign.

  2. Add filters to target appropriate donors:

    • Respect communication consent preferences.

    • Exclude constituents who have previously refused a Gift Aid Declaration.

    • Use Total Contribution fields to search back four years.

    • Limit results to individuals, as organisations cannot make Gift Aid declarations.

  3. Export the List or sync it to Mailchimp to send your campaign message.

πŸ“Œ Note: You can include a QR code in physical mailings to link supporters directly to your Gift Aid form.

Monitor Campaign Engagement and Income

Track form activity and new declarations within Donorfy.

Review Form Analytics

  1. Open your Gift Aid Opt-In form and view the Analytics tab.

  2. Review visits, completion counts, and conversion rates.

  3. Check the constituent timeline to see Gift Aid Declarations submitted during the campaign.

πŸ“Œ Note: Donations associated with new Gift Aid Declarations will appear in your next Gift Aid claim.

Repeat for Future Campaigns

Repeat the campaign steps at any time. Your autotag will always remain up to date, ensuring accurate targeting.
