Each constituent has a salutation and label name generated from their existing name information. These values are used in letters, emails, and address labels. You can override these defaults for any contact details when a different level of formality is required.

Understand Default Salutation and Label Names

Donorfy generates the following defaults automatically:

Default Rules

Field

Default Format

Example

Label Name

Title + First Name + Last Name

Mrs Jane Smith

Salutation

First name if available; otherwise Title + Last Name

Jane or Mrs Smith

πŸ“Œ Note:

  • A salutation is used at the start of a communication (e.g., Dear John,).

  • A label name is used at the top of an address (e.g., Mr John Smith).

Override Salutation and Label Names

  1. Open the constituent record and scroll to the Contact Details section.

  2. Locate the Salutations area at the bottom of the contact details block.

  3. Enter the custom Label Name and Salutation you want to use.

  4. Click Save to apply the new values.

πŸ“Œ Note:
You can set different salutations and label names for each set of contact details (e.g., personal vs work).
