Prepare the Data Preparation Template
Go to Data Management, then click File Upload.
Click Update Template to refresh the template.
Download the updated Data Preparation Template.
Open the file and do one of the following:
Right-click the Opportunities worksheet and copy it into a new workbook, or
Delete any worksheets you do not need, leaving only Opportunities if preferred.
📌 Note: Keeping only the required worksheet helps avoid uploading unnecessary data.
Complete the Required Fields
To upload Opportunities, the following information must be provided:
Linking the Opportunity to a Constituent
You must include at least one of the following so the Opportunity can be matched to an existing constituent—or used to create a new one:
Constituent Number
Email Address
External Key
Or complete enough constituent details to add a new record
Required Opportunity Details
You must include:
Description: a clear summary of the opportunity.
Opportunity Type: must match an active Opportunity Type in your system.
Opportunity Stage: must match a valid stage associated with the selected type.
📌 Note: Ensure naming exactly matches your configuration (including spelling and spacing).
Complete, Check and Upload
Review your data carefully and ensure all required fields are complete.
Remove any columns you do not intend to update.
Save your file as .xlsx (Excel format).
Return to Data Management, click File Upload and upload your file.
Allow the system to run validation checks and address any flagged issues before applying the update.
⚠️ Important: Once applied, uploads cannot be undone. Always validate your data before submitting.
Correct any errors
After you upload a file Donorfy will check it:
if there are problems which prevent the data in the file being imported, a message will be displayed.
